Patrick S. arrived at New Century Careers’ MANUFACTURING 2000 (M2K) program with a clear goal: he wanted stability, growth, and a career that challenged him to work with both his mind and his hands. Before joining M2K, Patrick built a solid foundation as a dependable and adaptable worker, taking on roles in production, customer service, and warehouse operations.

Although Patrick had no prior machining background, he came into the program with curiosity and enthusiasm. He had always enjoyed working with his hands and had even experimented with 3D printing as a hobby. Patrick shared “I have some hobbyist experience using 3D printer and I find some similarities when watching or reading content about machining.” That hands-on interest sparked a fascination with machining. He was intrigued by the precision of mills and lathes, the complexity of their usage, and the satisfaction of transforming raw material into functional parts. He saw M2K as the perfect opportunity to shift from job to career, where he could build a long-term future. Patrick stated “I am looking to advance my career into something stable with a positive outlook. This training can help me achieve that goal affordably and relatively quickly.

Throughout the program, Patrick displayed a strong work ethic and a genuine desire to master each skill. He earned multiple NIMS (National Institute for Metalworking Skills) credentials through New Century Careers, demonstrating his proficiency in machining fundamentals. But Patrick didn’t stop there, he took initiative beyond the classroom, earning additional industry-recognized certifications from HAAS. His commitment to advancing his technical knowledge showed that work ethic.

Patrick entered the program searching for a new direction. He left with a career starting as a machinist with New Century Careers’ partner company True Position, with industry recognized credentials, and a future in advanced manufacturing, proving what is possible with motivation, training, and opportunity. His story reflects the progress of MANUFACTURING 2000; opening doors, building skills, and transforming potential into success.
