NCC partners with Catalyst Connection for Operation Next free training

January 28, 2021

Jan. 25, 2021 — Catalyst Connection is proud to announce Operation Next, an initiative specifically created for small and mid-sized manufacturers whose businesses have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Catalyst Connection has partnered with New Century Careers and CCAC West Hills to offer additional opportunities for hands-on, performance-based learning on real manufacturing equipment. New Century Careers will be assisting trainees with the CNC Machine Operations Pathway, while CCAC West Hills will be offering hands-on welding training, beginning February 2021.

The program will provide participants with an accelerated, hybrid curriculum combining both virtual and in-person learning. Online, self-paced curriculum will be provided to each individual when they choose from one of the three offered career pathways:

  • CNC Machine Operations: prepares personnel for the role of CNC Operator aligned to National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) industry standards.
  • Welding: prepares personnel to become entry-level welders and is aligned to American Welding Society (AWS) SENSE Level I: Entry Level Welder Standards.
  • Industrial Maintenance Technician: prepares personnel for one of two tracks – Mechanical Maintenance Technician or Electrical Maintenance Technician. This pathway is aligned to NIMS Industrial Technology Maintenance industry standards.

The cost of both online and hands-on training will be available at no cost to participants, thanks to support from LIFT and a grant from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

Those interested in this program can contact Mara Peduto at mpeduto@catalystconnection.org for additional information.
